The time trial season kicked off tonight with a 16km race. This year's TT series is all about improving and developing racing skills so a handicap system has been applied based on the best efforts from 2017. Conditions could not have been more different from the first TT of 2017 which was a short sleeves and sunglasses affair and overall this was reflected in this evenings times. This evening was cold with, as some would say, 'a great training breeze'! We were delighted to see some first timers to the time trial series all of whom raced hard and bravely in the tough conditions. Fastest rider on the night was new club member, Jonathon Costello with a super 26:24 just 21 seconds ahead of Gabriel Timoney. In the ladies race, Eleanor Rooney was strongest with Pamela Zarb coming in a close second just 30 seconds behind. With handicaps applied, Pamela and Paul McGee come out tops, followed by Barry Duffy and Barbour Regan in the mens race and a super result for Clare Boyle in second with Eleanor having to settle for third. Next race will be another 16km (hopefully in better conditions) on next Wednesday, 16th May.
