Competitors in MSC Tri Club's second duathlon of the season had the benefit of a brisk and blustery training breeze this morning at the Lakeside Centre. With 17 competitors out for our second race, and club points on offer for all participants, the challenging conditions did not deter the hardy who battled bravely on todays extended course of 3km, 23km & 2.5km. From the start Noel Hoey made his intentions clear and could not be caught as he maintained his lead and finished almost four minutes clear of the rest of the field. Gerry McCafferty's strong cycle leg saw him take a fantastic second place. Pamela Zarb, first lady, was once again in fine fettle crossing the line fourth overall despite a strong challenge by Eleanor Rooney on the bike leg but just not enough to reel Pamela in, while Mary Hoey had a strong race to complete the ladies podium. Well done to all who competed today.
We had fine performances from all with honourable mention going to Noreen Harrington with a great effort in just her second duathlon, she's one to watch in future! We were delighted to see Brian McMullin and Stevie MacGlinchey back for their first race of the year with James Gallagher competing in is first duathlon in five years. Results on the link below.
