MSC Tri 20km TT

Pamela Zarb and Paul McGee took advantage of the calm conditions to put in excellent times and take top spot in the handicap classification under blue skies at Wednesday's 20km time trial.  Eleanor Rooney and Jonathon Costello's consistently strong cycling saw both finish the course in the fastest times.  Gabriel Timoney had to settle for second and Aidan McAleer third in the mens race while in the ladies race, Pamela Zarb was second fastest lady with the ever improving Maura McGauran in third. Overall there were great times and performances from all in perfect conditions with special mention going to the returning Barry Gallagher, the improving Brendan Connolly, the dark horse Gerry McCaffe

16km Time Trial No. 2

More favourable conditions meant much improved times on our second 16km time trial. The big guns were out in force with just over a minute separating Jonathon Costello, Aidan Ferguson and Gabriel Timoney. With handicap applied Aidan Ferguson took top spot with the back to action Brendan Connolly in second and Shane Carty's powerful performance saw him take third. In the ladies race, Eleanor Rooney was once again fastest lady over the distance. The performance of the evening came from Clare Boyle who slashed an incredible 7 minutes and 18 seconds off last weeks time to top the podium in the ladies handicap race. 16KM TIME TRIAL

The time trial season kicked off tonight with a 16km race. This year's TT series is all about improving and developing racing skills so a handicap system has been applied based on the best efforts from 2017. Conditions could not have been more different from the first TT of 2017 which was a short sleeves and sunglasses affair and overall this was reflected in this evenings times. This evening was cold with, as some would say, 'a great training breeze'! We were delighted to see some first timers to the time trial series all of whom raced hard and bravely in the tough conditions.
