MSC Tri Club Spring Duathlon Series

Competitors in MSC Tri Club's second duathlon of the season had the benefit of a brisk and blustery training breeze this morning at the Lakeside Centre. With 17 competitors out for our second race, and club points on offer for all participants, the challenging conditions did not deter the hardy who battled bravely on todays extended course of 3km, 23km & 2.5km. From the start Noel Hoey made his intentions clear and could not be caught as he maintained his lead and finished almost four minutes clear of the rest of the field. A dry morning with very light breeze and mild temperatures made for perfect conditions for the first club duathlon of the year. We were delighted to have 25 athletes out for the race, many attempting duathlon for the first time. Pamela Zarb was in top form and with a speedy first run leg, blistering bike and lightening fast final run she couldn't be caught and cruised home to take first place in the ladies race with Eleanor Rooney's strong performance giving her second while Martina Coughlin, in her first duathlon finished in 3rd position.
