Club Time Trial No.8 Wednesday 7th July 2011

After a few weeks break the MSC Tri Time Trials resumed last night with a grueling 2.7km hill climb. 21 hardy souls battled this demanding course which twisted and wound is way up high above Lough Melvin. Weather conditions were almost perfect with some light showers towards the end of the evening. Some fantastic times posted by all involved. Next Wednesday we are back on the flat with a 16km time trial meeting at the Lakeside Ballyshannon for 6pm. Updated overall standings to follow. Just need to find my abacus!

The Time Trials Schedule

The Time Trials will resume on Wednesday 6th July and will run for 9 weeks. We will have a few changes this time with a couple of short hill climbs and there will be three team events. These will be made up of teams of three, with the teams being picked on each of the nights. The teams will be fairly matched!!! Each team of three must start and finish together.

We were very dependent (and grateful) to the volunteers that marshalled and did the time keeping in the last set of time trials. We can not continue to do so!!!! We need people to volunteer at least once during the series. If we don’t have marshals we cannot run the time trials!! If people can look at the schedule and advise me of a date that suits them I will do up a “roster”. If family or friends want to help that would also be useful. They are only needed for about 30 mins on any given night.

I would also remind people about the insurance and the need to have Triathlon Ireland membership to take part in our club events. If you have not taken out membership please do so. Please bring along your membership details at the next event so that we can take down the details.

We also need to collect €5 from MSCTRI members or €15 from non members for participation in this event. This is to cover costs etc. If there is any surplus we may have a few prizes at the end.

Apart from the first two events, we will meet at the Lakeside centre at 6pm.

Great to see such a strong turnout of club members and visitors again tonight along the Bundoran Ballyshannon bypass. It was the 20k course again with the usual strong winds hampering everyone on the return leg to Bundoran counting for at least 1min differance in time from last week. I have finally figured out the secret to going fast complain about every injury under the sun, the start line was like a doctors waiting room yet none of these alleged injuries slowed the guys at the front. Well done to everyone who took part great work once again.

Club Time Trial No.4 Wednesday 25th May 2011

Another great turn out by club members an visitors. It did not look like we were going to be able to run the event judging by the weather earlier in the day but the wind blew itself out and it turned out to be a great evening along the Ballyshannon Bundoran bypass. Tonight was the first night of the 20k course you wouldnt think it comparing the times from last weeks 16k with people making huge improvements. Well done to all involved and keep up the good work.

Club Time Trial No.2 Wednesday 11th May 2011

Another great turn out for our second time trial. The weather played its part with the rain holding off long enough for everyone to get home dry, yet a strong head wind on the outward leg made for a testing course. Next week we will be holding the last of the 16k before moving up to the 20k course. I have added a hanicap and points to everone who has taken part so far. The results can be found on the left of the page under the time trial results tab. It will level the playing field for all. Final points will be given to the best 5 of your 7 races, consistency as well as speed is key.

Club Time Trial No.1 Wednesday 4th May 2011

Well, the rain may have finally dampened down the fires on the hills but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the 17 who took to the Bundoran / Ballyshannon Bypass this evening for the first of our Time Trial events.  Fastest home on the very tough and windy 16K course was Kieran Mulligan closely followed by Ciaran Clancy firmly establishing himself as one of the the most improved athletes in the club following the winter training programme.  Damien Foley came in a close third.  Fastest Female was Jane McDevitt with Amy Spratt second and Alaine Murray in third.  Full Provisional Results below:
