Winter TrainingSome beautifully made commericals by Garmin. They really make want to get up and go outside and train regardless of weather conditions!
The James Cracknell TrilogyI stumbled accross these the other day when I was looking for some sports documentries to watch online. In this new trilogy of films, James Cracknell tackles three extraordinary races across some of the planet's most hostile terrain including Yukon Arctic Ultra, Marathon Des Sables and Race accross America. A true nutter.......but inspiring at the same time! More on the three documentries here.

He is moving from west to east, commencing in North America, before proceeding to Central and South America and on to Australia, Asia and Europe before returning to Ireland. He wishes to finish at 2pm on 29 October 2013, to finish where he started with the Dublin marathon. You can follow his progress on his website www.theworldjog.com I will never complain again!

Hill ClimbingWith the time trials resuming today, Wednesday 6th July, here are some hill climbing tips!
Over the next few weeks I will be posting videos of inspiration. With the Warrior of the Sea swim happening at the weekend its only right we start with swimming. Tuesday InspirationLewis Gordon Pugh North Pole Swim This week its Lewis Gordon Pugh. He’s swum pretty much every major ocean swim there is and he’s swim at the North Pole. Let me just say that again, he’s swum at the NORTH POLE! He swam a kilometre at the pole to highlight climate change, swimming at minus 2 celcius for more that 20minutes. At the moment he’s in the Himalayas attempting to swim in the worlds highest lake just below Everest. I love what he does and the way he does it, he’s a true inspiration. Martin Strel, Big River ManMartin Strel is not an athlete. He is a fifty-plus, big bellied Slovenian man who drives whilst drunk and eats horse burgers. He's also and endurance swimmer, conquering the worlds largest rivers the Mississippi, the Danube and the Yangtze to draw attention to environmental issues. Journeying with his English speaking son Borut and director John Maringouin, he sets out to swim the Amazon, facing obstacles including carnivorous fish, rapids and toxic water pollution. Big River Man is a character study filled with humour, an edge-of-your-seat thrilling adventure and an awareness raising environment documentary that delivers on all fronts. |
